we live inside our decisions, including the ones made by fear.
a comic on the choices that make or break us.
“we cannot become what we want to be by remaining what we are.” - max depree
❤️🔥 thank you for reading. i made this comic when i felt doubt was getting the best of me, and i needed reminders of the choices i’ve made thus far.
if this made you feel something, you are welcome to share the piece or a part that struck you the most.

i’m an artist looking to build a full-time creative life. generally, my work explores what perturbs and what that reveals.
my focus right now is reflections on becoming yourself when the process hurts. it’s an arduous, uncomfortable - and profound process. when anyone can make anything, our perspectives define us.
this comic is loosely based on the themes of an essay i wrote last month, “the only thing that makes me scream.”
i also make companion illustrations tied thematically to these essays. my current project is the brute & bromie series, two characters i illustrate to explore & process what change actually feels like.
🩸 BRUTE acknowledges how brutal it can feel, or potential extremes of destructive patterns that hold you back. (so you can choose differently).
🌱 BROMIE is a tender reminder. permission for self-compassion, to be gentle with yourself through a period of drastic change. (it’s hard enough as it is.)

to living courageously,

there's so much here that my heart feels echoes words that have been unspoken in me - thank you for unlocking doors whose keys i'd misplaced
and your layout style - it's stunning - and i hadn't a clue that that 'off the page, floating in space' type look was possible on this platform - if you're willing to point me to where i can learn how to do it, i'd be grateful
even this 'Also share to Notes' addition to this comment block is something i didn't know is possible, or i can go to learn how to do that
(ahhh, the mysteries... chuckling am i)
Wow, I am so so glad you are making art for you and digging deep into what's been buried. I didn't know you also made comics, this is amazing storytelling❤️🩹
