Ohh love this! I agree that it’s important to give value to the small things as well. I also love a long form thing but doing sketches and exploring “smaller” ideas really helps stimulate the brain and feeds into the bigger stuff too! I also have the tendency to build up a big project to the point I feel too much pressure so I end up not doing anything at all. Not to mention lack of time! I am realising that doing something is alwaaaays better than nothing and even if it’s shit and I hate it, i at least put something out there and learned something, and that’s enough.

Love your sketches and hope you have loads of fun playing around with your ideas!

hello!!! 🤍 thank you for your kind words and thoughtful response, i only got to see this now.

i totally agree with you! i love bigger projects too, but sometimes you feel the weight of it once you've started and think: goddamn. this is Going to Take a While. HAHA. in that sense, scaling down is its own form of strength. there's a lot of permission needed if you're used to making something grand, and really even in learning from the process is something that no one can take away from you. effort is never wasted. 🧡

i see you're also an artist, and i hope you have much fun playing with your ideas too!

Yesss 100% agree with all your points! It’s such a strength to step back and realise a project needs to scale down to be feasible and to be balanced with your day to day life.

Excited to see all your projects, both the big and small ones!

First of all, I love your art style so much!

I think the subject you’ve touched on in this piece is incredibly important. I remember a time when I quit making art completely, I didn’t draw a single thing for a year and a half, maybe even two. Because I always thought it had to be something big, something grand, and something that reflected my "talent" in all its detail. But I never had the time for that. This only changed when I allowed myself to do small things and got a mini sketchbook. It activated parts of my brain that I had long forgotten. So, thank you for this piece, I can't wait to see more from you!

hello!!! thank you for such a sweet and thoughtful comment, along with sharing your experience. ❤️‍🩹🫂

i share similar sentiments with you. i was fortunate enough to do some creative professional work, but i stopped drawing for myself because i also felt that it needed to be grand. but i think that to have tried at all (especially when you're low on time and energy) is more than enough. i'm happy you've been able to give yourself permission with your mini sketchbook, and if you'd ever like to share some snippets of them, i'd love to see. 🫶

I can def see the emotions in your drawings! Experimentation is what we need without fear of the outcome, it makes such great art!! :)
