Your drawings are so evocative, I could feel the movement, the loneliness, the sensations of not being understood in a room full of people through a few visuals. Very strong artwork, ryv. Loved the imagery of flowers opening up to vulnerability. Didn't know about the skeleton flower, it's a real revelation. We have been wired to see crying as a weakness, and you depicted the relief so beautifully. 💖 Nonverbal language cues are captured so rawly, without feeling the need to add poetic verses, it leaves the space for feeling deeply.
dear nimila, thank you for such a soulful comment, to be read with such attention truly moves me. i wanted to revisit emotion through lines and expressions, and it's always fulfilling when it reaches hearts like yours, moreso when it is felt so deeply. ❤️🩹🥺 these words mean so much coming from you, someone who embraces unbridled emotion with no intention to tone it down.
i seem to hear from you either before i sleep or just when i wake up, today being the latter. at either time, it makes my day. i hope we can always carve spaces to feel unapologetically, unhampered. thank you, thank you.
I’ve been laughing everyday since the honeysuckle comment. Now I know why. Skeleton flower !!!! You show us a whole new world by using real life experiences and crafting them together. The tulip at the end moving the petal to show the tear. Your work heals my inner child every time I take something with it. Because of you, I’ve been pushing myself not to sleep as much. Really trying to embrace life. I love all of your work. I’m so proud of you for showing your vulnerability. Ryv you are amazing in every way. I miss you and can’t wait to catch up soon 🫂🚀✨
aw kris 🥺❤️🩹 this is such a thoughtful and sweet way to speak about my work. i think it’s an artist’s dream for what they make to linger after the moment has passed. it’s so meaningful to know that it’s resonated so much to help in your own life, whether my comment made you smile, or it helps you to want to stay awake rather than asleep. these are the things that remind me to keep going even when tides begin to shift.
i miss you too, and i’m lucky to have a reader and friend who returns. i can’t wait to hear from you when you’re ready! 🤍
THE SKELETON FLOWER!!! woah I'm learning about them for the first time and God, they are so beautiful! In a world full of snap dragons, it is so so validating and heart-warming to find your tulip. thank you for sharing such a raw and beautiful piece. my jaw dropped the whole time I was processing this. LIKE THE LAYERS TO THIS AND YOU EXECUTED IT PERFECTLY WOW!
I, too, find myself crying a lot more than usual, but as you said, it is a blessing to release our feelings than to suffocate them under that blanket of numbness. your body finally feels safe to process, and it will soon set you free❤️🩹
THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! your words are so sweet as always. 🤍🏵 the way you described the archetypes through the flowers i chose made me smile today. :") truly, meeting your tulip is unmatched. i had also just learned about skeleton flowers recently, and something just called to make something with them.
crying as a healing journey 🤝 i'm so happy it has reached you at a time where you felt similarly, it's the reason i choose to make things in the first place. while to a degree it is still painful, there's always a relief in the aftermath. i do hope that it's done more of the latter in recent times, you deserve that much as well. 🫶
I love the flower references! So much meanings behind every flower. Also love how each panel is drawn so creatively. It’s clear so much thought has been put into every aspect of this comic
💌🫂 thank you so much!! i wanted to play with the comic layout in service of the story, and i’m happy to hear that the choices in flowers worked out well in the end too.
dear jeanne, thank you, truly. 🤍 i would love to make a comic book someday, but for now, they breathe in smaller panels. this means a lot coming from you. i’ve had a tendency in the past to overexplain, so i wanted to see what i could do with just lines and no dialogue to leave a feeling that lingers beyond the surface story. to hear this being felt by you means so much.
thank you, jemima! ❤️🩹 i've wanted to extend "plants as metaphors" to other work, and see what i could do when just limited to the drawings. i'm happy to hear that the flowers and art landed with you. thank you again for reading. 🫶

It would be fascinating to read a comic book by you. Your work always feels heartfelt, yet there is something deeper unfolding underneath.

I appreciate the flower references, informative and lovely.
The drawings are spot on; I felt the vulnerability.
Well done Ryv :)
